“Revisiting a day in my childhood, a day in my brothers, it’s amazing how some things never change.

In a scene reminiscent to that of a children’s picture book, the innocence captured is plain to see.

Tongues soon to be painted blue and red by ice treats, fingers stickly sweet with melted sugar.

Skin darkened by the heat, glows and glistens and hair is sun-dyed brown.

Dandelions are better than gold when picked and given to Mama, a bouquet of unripened wishes.

Their worries are short, simple and soon forgotten, they wonder how many more treats they can get before the day is up.

And for now they splash their feet in the baby pool and they play with ladybugs and don’t have no fear, until they do.

And kids don’t have no fear, until they do.”
